Well, I just bought a 1911A1 from Armco, so I decided it was also a good time to get into reloading. I picked up a Lee Anniversary Kit, along with the Lee .45 dies.

I have done a lot of reading on reloading, and I picked up the Lyman Handbook a year ago, so now I just need a good "recipe." Does one need to resize the brass on once fired .45ACP? I was told that it isn't really necessary initially, as .45 brass is pretty strong.

Always resize your brass other wise the bullets will be too loose. Better sit down and read your manuals again.

I don't trim my brass for the first couple of loads because they are so low pressure.
I load Speer 230 gr cast lead bullets behind 5.5 gr of Unique powder and they group well, but a bit lower than factory ammo. Low velocity but accurate is all I'm looking for.

I think he means TRIM the brass by resize. You'll automatically "resize" the brass when you run the depriming die through them.
