Stash of 5000 WWII German StG 44 found in Syria

My guess would be that some high ranking US officer will end up with
a few or more of those stg44's, and he'll freight 'em home on a
C5 Galaxy.

Syria attacked Israel with Pz IV's, I think Israel had the Super Sherman and the Centurion at the time. Sucked for the Syrian tankers.

Dam why didn't I find them when I was there in 2001. All I brought back was gold that ended up with my ex-wife

I read an article way back stating the Stg44 actually remained in service with the East German army until around 1965. Maybe these batch came from there.

Syria had stocks of it as well. Covertly supplied Iraqi insurgents with rifles and ammo. Nice to see these pieces being used against the regime for what it's worth.

Some company should buy them and take them apart and fit them up with a semi-only receiver and off to the collector/shooter market we go....

There already is a company making semi-auto only MP 44 receivers, albeit they seem to have big QC problems....

These rifles must have been of excellent quality back in 44. They cost around 30 RM or $60 green backs back then to produce.

Would have loved to fire one. Did have a chance to fire an mg42...It amazed me..still does.

Have seen crates of 1960s Czech 7.92X33 just like we get x39.
Im guessing ammo is probably stored with the guns
