I am either going to sell this NEF .22 hornet Handi-Rifle or get the damned steel trigger guard and steel forearm spacer. For silly reasons it has to be done by a stateside smith because these parts are not available in Kanada. Could anyone reccomend a smith that regularly deals with Canadian customers, and what all would be involved anyways, with regards to paperwork, now that we don't require individual registration of rifles?

"...we don't require individual registration of rifles..." Who told you that? The registry is still alive and costing us tons of money.
Having anything done to an NEF will likely cost you more than the rifle is worth. Especially if you send it Stateside. In any case, you'd have to comply with our stupid laws and U.S. laws. Try ordering the parts from Marlin/H&R and putting them in yourself.

I can't imagine any smith in the US doing any work for canucks. Too much paperwork. There has to be a way to acquire the parts and do it yourself or use a smith in Kanada.

It isn't the Canadian paperwork that is the problem.. it is the US paperwork required to cross the border in either direction.

The problem being they won't ship the parts to Canada, period. I've thought about having them shipped to a US address and then shipped to Canada, but I then thought that I'm not just buying DVD's or something, I would not want to do that; as I don't relish the thought of the BATFE busting in someones door stateside because of me. Those guys who do NEF warranty work in Sask did not know what I was talking about when I rang them and asked about these parts.
