Hey All,

Done some reloading.... As a newb I've stuck mostly to dipper and scale charging... painfully slow (but safe)...

Today I decided to actually reload some quantity and attempted to use the auto disc for charging only to find the powder covering the plastic on the hopper and about 20 seriously under charged rounds.... I tested the charge about 10 times before and it was ok (maybe .2 grain difference)... I assume that static is binding the works rendering the auto disc useless to me unless any of you guys have some ideas.... Or should I just go out and get a stand alone charger (ie get what you pay for)

I'll hang up and listen...
Thanks in advance

what powder and charge are you using?

for the static wipe down all the parts on the measure with a used dryer sheet a few times.

Grab a partially used fabric softener dryer sheet (new ones tend to leave too much of a residue) and wipe down powder measure. Leave it to air out for a day or so and it should be static free after.

Edit: Damn you Spawn! You must have quick fingers! lol

Store your hopper with with a dryer sheet inside it....that will help knock down the static. Change the sheet every so often just to fresh up its effectiveness.

Damn both of you...lol

Thank you.... I guess this is a common occurrence (3 reply s within like a minute)... I also assume that more expensive thrower contraptions have the same

Bullseye 4.4 Midway Load map in the very greens pushing whatever pointy I can get on the cheap... in this case 200grain psuedo jacketed 45 pills.... FWIW

the reason i asked was because when i used the micrometer bar for the lee autodisk for 9mm it doesn't work consistently below 3.5gr using tightgroup or w231/hp-38. but it does work with the disks.

i don't have any static issues with my RCBS uniflow or lee perfect powder measure with any powder accept for a bit of powder sticking when i empty them to change powders. the lee sucks with very fine grained powder like h110/w296.

I think another thrower will be in my future....

I was quite prepared to let this thread die but then I came across this any would like your thoughts anyone....

I've had the same LEE PPP for a long time now, and it no longer has static cling. And it's also the most consistant powder thrower out there.

Static was certainly an issue for me too. Not as bad as you've experienced I don't think but I found wiping down the outside of the hopper with a glass cleaner worked really well too. I tried the dryer sheet approach, didn't seem to make any difference for me. As others have said, get some graphite powder as well and swish a good amount around on the insisde paying partiuclar attention to the throat and elastomer wipe.

Last thing that may make a difference is a humidifyer in the room you are reloading in. Keep it between 35-45%.

Ive never had any static charge to my powder, it says to run a bit of powder through it. There is graphite powder on the smokeless powder to ease in flow, run a bit through the hopper and such and see how it is after. Also if its a LEE powder measure thrower, TAKE IT APART! there are hard edges inside i have knocked off with a sharp knife and the little bump on the thrower wiper i cut off, now it meter even 800X consistant every time.
