If you don't want it don't buy it... goes both ways, eh?

I don't buy things with the intent to flip them for profit. I have many firearms I could right now sell for a profit, but I don't as I wanted the firearm not the value. I do sell firearms, but that is more to do with my interest not being as high after purchasing than the intent to actively make a profit, such as what people attempted to do with the M91/30/43s.

The fact of life is every year there are more people on this world collecting rifles and a ever dwindling supply of them. 50 years ago a $24.95 Lee Enfield was 1/2 a weeks wages and there were millions of them, nowadays a $600.00 Lee Enfield is 1/2 a weeks wage or even less.
People may think that prices are crazy but really they are not. Prices have risen more on a loaf of bread or a quart of milk compared to the price of a surplus rifle.

I think you may have hit the nail on the head with your comparison of food prices (cost of living). Lets face it we purchase firearms/ammo with extra income after cost of living. The cost of living is higher than ever for the new generation to get started. (mortgage,insurance,school, food,taxes,tv,internet,cell phones) All the while the rate of pay for average jobs has decreased in comparison. Leaving less exspendable money for most people to spend on a rifle. I know alot of the costs of living are choices but are often a part of modern life. I'm in the middle area of life and feel the pinch. Would not want to be starting out again. Think i've been lucky buying what i did when i did for milsurps. But prices have risen to the point that i can't do it anymore.

There are really no more milsurps to come. What is here is here in current collections. As the boomers pass their collections will come back to the market. But in future prices which will not likely be any lower than now.

I think a world wide recession is in the not too distant future. Ammo will be next to impossible to obtain especially surplus military calibers................Gov't control.Harold
