Steam bending

It does look like it wouldn't take much work to shift it forward the small amount needed, you will likely need to adjust any through holes for bolts or blind holes for mounting screws, but that should be easy enough with a bit of wood and glue.

There arnt any. The stock bolt goes thru the stock and thats it. All i need is to move it forward is less than the thickness of a playing card. That should get the wood angled up under the outer edge of the metal to hold it mechanically.

The only connection is a bolt through the butt stock? And the "cheeks" of the receiver are not parallel to the tang, i.e. there is a bit of a dovetail there? (they look parallel in the picture)

If that is the case - try throwing a spacer/washer on the stock bolt & tighten - the receiver should pull the stock in... if that is the case as I understand it here...
you might have to relieve behind the tang a bit, but would have to do that anyway.
