Steel and lead shot through a rifled slug barrel?

Can I fire steel and lead shot through a rifled slug barrel in my 12 gauge? The shotgun in question is a Beretta ES100 pintail.

Traditionally aren't rifled barrels for slug only? I'd imagine that wouldn't be too good for 'er.

No you shouldn't. You'll ruin the rifling in the slug barrel etc. Buy another barrel if you want to shoot shot.

The cup will protect the bore , but the Pattern will be a circle with no pellets in the center, which is where you want 'em

Don't do it, your barrel will be toast if you do the wad will not protect it.

I know some people who buy High quality belgian made rifled shotgun to hunt woodcock .
Because your shot will spread like a wall in front of you but you get something like 15 feet of effective range
and those special made rifled shotgun have a slow twist rifling, not like your fast twist slug barrel.
So I don't recommend it .

For Upland.....Beretta offers an Ultralight 12ga o/u model with a rifled bottom bbl.....don't think Beretta markets that in NA though.

Lead shot, even without a wad will not hurt a steel barrel.
The wad on modern steel loads will protect the rifling; however Levi's assesment of the pattern is correct.
