Steel Cased 5.56/.223

Buy steel cased. The amount you save over the time the rifle actually shows wear because of it, you could afford a new rifle.

I've almost exclusively shot steel case MFS and Barnaul out of my DPMS AR15. Around 2500 rounds, not a failure and it shoots as accurate as me. If I was going to use the gun to hunt or anything besides shoot the hell out of it I'd probably just shoot AE or Norc.
 
I've had great results in terms of accuracy with the Hornady steel cased, and with accelerated wear being relatively minimal it makes financial sense to shoot it as well.
