Hi everyone,

As the title suggests, I'm looking into a 22LR for steel challenge, since all my B&T PCC have been banned...

I am not a connoisseur of 22, but I believe either a 10/22 or TM22 might be my best options.

My main concern is obviously maximum reliability since I can't have it fails in competition, so I think a 10/22 might be the better option, but what is the consensus ?

Don't have to search long to find some reviews on the tm22 being unreliable.

My 10/22 has never had a jam I don't think.
It did however have an issue with the extractor not working all the time when pulling back the bolt. I since upgraded it and it works better.

There's several 10/22 clones that are considered top notch such as the dlask tuf 22.

Overall I'm quite happy with my Ruger 10/22. I upgraded to the BX trigger as well. Shoots 2 moa groups with CCI standard velocity. Generally 10/22s and clones are considered top of the line for semi automatic 22s with unlimited upgrades available.

Check either the C-71 or ST-22 (both based on a 10/22 action) from Spectre Ballistics. Both are specifically designed for competition shooting.

A Dlask rifle will serve you very well! Or you can go down the rabbit hole and end up in the thousands with optics like I did. But its reliable and Ive medalled in every steel challenge event Ive entered, the only Ruger parts are the mags. Lol

How does it work with Dlask, do they sell full builds or just the parts? Website seems to just show just parts

Shot Speed Steel yesterday in Chilliwack BC, half of our squad of 10 shooters were shooting Derya TM-22’s. We are finding the Derya’s to be quite reliable with the correct ammo, most are using CCI Mini Mags or CCI AR22, both function well.

My TM22 has a few hundred through it and is very accurate for a $500 semi 22 as far as I am concerned. Not a hiccup with a few different types of ammo and very simple to clean. Only two complaints from me is that a couple of the plastic mags I have need a polish to remove and insert into the magwell easily, and the way the engineers decided to add a bunch of angle to the way a standard Ar pattern grip interfaces with the receiver. Other wise solid gun, great buy. My buddy has a thousand through his without hiccup as well.
