bah, couldn't get my gf to leave the tropical t-shirt-wearing heat they had going on in the indoor range. first time EVER the heat is been that cranked. no doubt a ploy to get people to strip down - i've seen the comments in the babes with bows threads

well we still have to get official steel dude. Once we get that, then we can schedule a real match. We are using IPSC and Tactical Shotgun plates for the practice nights right now, and they are much smaller than SC steel apparently (I'm not an expert)
There is some discussion about the sanctioning fee that SC charges for clubs out of the USA, apparently we have to pay a minimum of $500, or $5 a gun which ever is greater to have a sanctioned match.

just bought the stuff for my .22 tim, but you wont like the pistol type
forgot how much fun moving was, tough stage and somehow i only did well on my first run of the night then everything went to crap

I think that would work fine, you could even do a changeover the same day if you wanted to. If the ground is level, you could do it all in 15 or 20 min.
There are lots of small matches that only do 5 or 6 stages, but 8 is awesome!

Talked to the guy who did my custom ear plugs, he is interested in sponsoring and is going to come out on wed to see how it works and such. He is also going to bring some of his info on his plugs for those that are interested. personally i love mine and glad i swapped from muff to them

cant make steel target out of scrap steel, really the only stuff that works and holds up consistently is AR500 or AR550, but if you have some of that in your scrap pile a)i want that scrap pile and b)

A full set would be 20 12" circles, 9 10" circles and 11 18"x24" rectangles. This is only if you want to set up all 8 stages at the same time.
You would also need 40 target stands.
A simple way, is to build a bracket on the back of the plate and slip it over a 2x4. You will have to replace 2x4's sometimes but it's a cheap and easy way to start. You just cut the 2x4's to the length you need and set them in a wood base.
The stands Wild Rose has were built with steel and are adjustable, which is really nice, especially if the ground is uneven. Also, if you add a spring on the back of the plate, it helps it ring. Nothing is worse than going back to a dead plate because you think you missed.
You should have several spares of each size as well because no matter how you weld them, the brackets on the back will break from time to time. This can be reduced by not shooting full power loads.

I have a partial set, they were built out of 1/2". I would use 3/8 next time, especially for the rectangles, they're too damn heavy lol.
I think they are AR 500. The brackets should be welded underwater or you will lose the temper and in that case, you may as well use regular steel. Even regular steel targets will last a while with soft loads (1000 fps)
