I'm looking to add a DA/SA to my stable. I think the Sig P226 EE might fit the bill but I'm looking for other suggestions. Here are my requirements:

1) DA/SA.
2) Steel frame/Metal frame. (I think the P226 EE is alloy, that's fine.)
3) Works well for small hands. (Too bad the Beretta 92FS Vertec was discontinued. :()
4) IPSC production approved.

I sold my G17 and got a 226 EE with SRT for this very reason myself

I shot the glock just fine, but it wasn't comfortable for me, felt like i was holding a 2'x4'

The sig just feels right in my hand. my only complaint about the sig is the height of the sights as compared to the glock.

With pistols, everyone is different - it's purely personal feel of the gun.

I'll definitely be handling all of them before making my final decision. I just want to gather a group of 3-5 potential candidates (so to speak).

I, too, have small hands and found that the P226 with the E2 grip fit very well. Now, I believe most of the new Sigs in the 226 family come with that grip, though the older style can be easily retrofitted at not that much cost.

I know the Smith & Wesson M&P series pistols have interchangeable gripstraps (as opposed to backstraps only), might be worth a look for you.

Yup, that's why I have one! Check out my signature. Besides, that recommendation doesn't meet my stated requirements.

I probably shouldn't have emphasized the small hands issue, I think it's throwing people off.

I will be looking at the Sig 226 EE, I just need other suggestion like it to create a small group of pistols to choose from.

***I've edited the threads title, hopefully that helps***

A ton of guys in production use SP-01 shadows. Meets are your criterion.

You'll probably want thin grips for smaller hands though.

I'm definitely interested in the Shadow. I was just worried about the grip as the one I handled seemed a bit thick and the trigger hard to reach. I may as well add it to the pool and research grip replacement.

I wouldn't mind a Beretta 92FS but it's a beast.

Grip would be much better on the CZ with the thin aluminum grips. Either the Shadow or a 85 Combat would be interesting as the trigger is shorter on those two than on some other CZ models.

Baby Eagle ;)

I'd personally go with a Shadow over the Sig. The grip on the Shadow seem to have a much thinner feel where as the Sig w/E2 feels very round in the hand. There also seems to be many more options available for the CZ in terms of grip sizes. I'd definitly handle both side by side if possible. The trigger reach in SA on both guns is pretty similar. I prefer the trigger on the Shadow over the 226. Actually, still waiting on a SRT kit for my 226, so hopefully that'll give it a nicer feel. I do shoot my Shadow most of the time though..... both are great guns, just different feels.

Forgot to add, and going on memory here but, I think you can also swap the trigger out on the 226 for one that'll shorten the reach. If I remember correctly, they weren't that expensive.

Tanfoglio stock2 or stock3 with lighter hammer spring and some polishing has a shorter reach for the DA....especially with aluminum grips.

Thanks everyone!

I looks like I will now be able to get out there and compare several pistols and see what fits best.

Cheers

I have a Sig 226 platinum Elite, love the SRT trigger on the upper end Sig's, and the decocker is also a nice feature IMO. Gun shoots any ammo I put in it has never failed, and feel real good in the hand.

Not sure if it fits all your criteria but I have a 92fs in inox, Let me know when you will be at the club and Ill let you throw some lead down range and see if you like her. You just have to treat her like the lady she is.....lol

Are you sure it was a Shadow? My wife loves hers- it fits her great, and she has never said a thing about the grip being bulky or that the trigger is hard to reach. And, for the record, my wife has small hands.

IMHO, the Shadow will give you everything you're looking for, with no tuning needed. It also has one of the best factory triggers on the market.
