What type of gun do you have and what choke

Definately NO through the full choke (steel is harder then lead and will not compress. It may bulge the barrel).

Dunno about the mod choke. I would say the gun is too old to be "steel rated"

I guess its a good excuse to buy a new one then. I have always wanted an O/U
I can still use it for turkey and grouse.

The mod barrel would be fine for steel up to #2 or B probably. Check it out on paper first to see if it patterns okay. But through a full some say yes some say no, if its an old gun with no real value it can't hurt to try. Those old Winchester semi's are not worth too much anyhow. Unless it is sentimental.

But definitely use the mod barrel.

I think that is a good plan.You may get away with some steel loads in the mod barrel but why put the old girl through that.

I still like the old girl, I bought her off an estate sale when I was 14. A lot of grouse have fallen to her . Just moved here , we have turkey and Ring-Necked Pheasant here. Going to see what she can do about them this fall. Get a new O/U for ducks and geese
