stepping up a load

Hey me again. I'm wondering about increments to step up loads. My manual has 3 loads for the combo I'm trying. Min max and one dead center. I loaded 3 at min and next 3 added 1 grain then went to med wich is one more grain up. Now do I increase by half grains till I hit optimum or whole grains. Ty all for help as I do not know anyone that reloads

I would increase by .2 of a grain, find the sweet spot, then play around .1 up or down. Watching for excessive pressure signs. I usually achieve the best accuracy in Most (not all) of my reloads reaching closer to the max range of the data. THIS IS FOR MY LARGER RIFLE LOADS. It would help, if we knew the calibre, bullet weight, and powder etc.

I find the opposite as Rick, as my node appeared closer to the middle, a solid 1.5 grain below max on the recipe I had. Worth trying different ends of the spectrum for sure.

I go by 0.5 grains til I get a couple sweet spots, then narrow it down to 0.2 as I look for the ideal grouping.

I go in 0.5 gr incriments starting at minmum and working up to maximum. Once I find a spot that looks promising I'll go 0.2 gr from where it was pulling together to over by a couple increments from where it looked good. If it looked promising at 55 gr, start the next round at 54.6 and so on. You can then further tune by 0.1 grain steps. Really depends how much you want to play or how how strong the OCD is in you. Never knew I had it till I started reloading :)

I do find around the middle is ok too. But when I bump it up, my groups will open up, then begin to close again. I get smaller ES, at the higher velocities. But like I said before, on most. Not all rifles. Especially when my old reloading books have quite a bit higher max loads, then the new fluffy books. Most of my best loads are higher than the new published data.
