Sterling Arms R9 MK1's Have Arrived! Get Yours Now!

I don't believe it. The bullet would have to exit the crown in pieces for that to have any possibility of occurring.
Not necessarily true...if it has lead exposed at the rear of the projectile it can liquify a bit and come out as the bullet passes buy. Hence the reason you get lead build up in comps from some ammunition. That being said... Try different ammo, or it could be powder residue and gases flashing out.

There are 3 people at my range with the R9 and they all experience the same thing.

I didn't even know it was a thing until one of the other owners asked if I had experienced it yet.

Ive Only shot 750 rounds through it.

Picked up a case of PCI blazer and a case of FHM

I also had some random boxes of Winchester and PCM.

Would it be possible for people having carbon/gas venting back to them to use a wrap over the back ports? I remember Sinistral Rifleman used a handguard wrap to cover his BRN-180's gas port so he wouldn't get fouling and hot gas on his hand.

Edit: Not sure if the site vendor can order it to sell with the trade war, but KE Arms still makes SHTF wrap.

Yeah, try the FHM and see if it does it. They use fully jacketed bullets with no exposed lead at the back kind of like campro's. I know with my PCC I would get massive amounts of lead build up from most factory brands that have open lead at the back because when the powder ignites it flashes the lead and vaporizes it and the pressure pushes it along after the projectile, escaping at the first place open... Like the ports on a comp, or the ports on your barrel.
Or simple answer...wear a protective arm sleeve on your support arm, that should do it.

Explains the FTF after the 750 rounds. Guess I'll just have to buy pricier ammo.

The ports are not the first place that gas can escape. The ports are at least an inch forward of the crown, and the back bored portion of the barrel is very large. Gas would flow around the bullet and lose pressure and velocity before it reached the ports.

So the 2 other owners at the range took a round file to the ports at the end of the barrel and angled them and now that has resolved the issue.

I plan on doing the same to mine.

Also locktite the mag release as it keeps coming loose.

I did not experience any noticeable blowback into my face and I am operating under worst possible conditions for that.
I'm a southpaw.
The factory ammo I've fired has been RUAG Sinox, Magtech, IVI, Winchester whitebox, Federal Syntech and Geco; a decent collection of ammo that includes hand loads of various make up.
I have ~ 2000 rounds through mine so far.
The RUAG has been noticeably the worst for blowback while others have been barely noticeable.

Sorry not brass but lead from the actual bullet.

I'm betting it isn't leading that is coming off of the vent slots, but powder residue and un-burnt powder from the action upon ejection.
I have seen no evidence of leading on the vent slots on mine; only powder residue.
That's not to say it isn't happening of course.

I've heard of "powder ricochets" happening with the PS90 barrel, it is somewhat similar in design. It was a filthy range gun and probably low quality ammo. That barrel sleeve was caked up with residue all over FN's factory angled ports, a similar angle that some users mentioned doing to their R9 above.
I had to reassure my friend the charging handle was not ripping his beard hair out one by one on every round.

Hi I pre-order now, do i have chances to have one in the next shipment?
