Sterling cross premium 22LR ammo

Premium at 3.30 per box? that don't compute in my mind.
Back in the old days , I sold a case or tow of that Russian stuff, out of my Bruno #3 and 4's, it was very good, but you had to wear rubber gloves with it.
I just saw this stuff from the Canada ammo newsletter, has anyone use this before? I can’t seem to find any reviews on it but for 32.99 a brick, it doesn’t seem like a bad deal. Jo Brook has the same ammo for 74.99

I was able to get some of the Sterling Cross stuff. Tested it out in my DAR/Kidd 10/22.

Reliability was mediocre. Accuracy was very good though. Actually was some of the more accurate stuff I have fired.

It does have a lot of wax and seems to be a bit dirty.

With a new battery in the Chrony I was back to the range.
Velocity from the Ruger 10/22 carbine: 1155, 1090,1089, 1091 and 1060.
From the CZ455 American : 1030, 1043, 1103, 1083 and 1094.

Three groups from the CZ at 50 yards was: .649, 1.593 and 1.671 (all o-o) so you can take a 0.20 off those measurements.

The variations in groups size can be explained in the velocity variation. Throwing away that 1155 shows a little bit better but it lacks any impressive results other than it goes bang.

Once photo bucket bucks up I can edit with a picture of the groups.
An invitation was extended to local management for our 100 meter rimfire benchrest but no response yet.

Sorry to revive this thread, I'm not sure if it's better to start a new one or not. I tried some of this out in my stock Remington 597 this weekend, and much to my surprise my rifle really seems to like it. If I did my part, I was about to get around 1 ~ 1.5 MOA groups with a CEP of around 0.3 ~ 0.5 MOA. It smelled funny - sort of like epoxy/glue?

I'd like to know more about this ammo, does anybody know about the BC for this ammo?

I've been shooting it a bit these last 2 weekends, it's not bad stuff, works good I'm semi's, fairly accurate for cheap plinker ammo. Definitely not match ammo.

I went out and recorded some velocities on the Sterling Cross ammo last week in an attempt to determine the BC . I don't know about the precision, but the G1 BC seems to be around 0.140. For the curious, I have a short write up about it.

The two bricks I tried a while back shot well for me. As mentioned, it appears to be identical to Aguila Standard Velocity, down to the distinctive smell, like Eley .22 ammo.
