Sterling SMG Barrel Alteration

I came across some parts the other day and I found a Sterling SMG threaded barrel. The threads were cut at the muzzle on the inside. It looks like the barrel was counter bored and threads cut on the inside. I was told the alteration was made for the installation of a BFA, used in the movie industry.

Sterling BFA

Some movie armourers threaded the ends of barrels to install a threaded allen head plug. There was a hole drilled into the allen head socket so some gas could blow by. The size of the hole varied as blank ammunition charges vary. There are low power blanks as well as high power. This conversion hides the BFA and allows some flash of gas to appear on camera.
