I have a Stevens 044 1/2 chambered in 25.21 Stevens. Gun is in very good condition and I would like to get an idea of its value. Any assistance in the process is greatly appreciated. Thanks David
 
I'd say $150-$1500. Reproductions are available so there is demand.

25-21 brass is available, but sit down first, $7.50 per piece.
 
Highly desirable Stevens model. Edit: I missed the "044" there, it's different from the 44-1/2; but still desirable. Yes, condition is everything but these will command a premium in any market. I can't recall whether .25-21 Stevens is the same as .25-21 Single Shot, the latter of which is available formed but yes, as noted above, it is PRI$EY. Regardless, it is indeed possible to make your own (OK, shortened - but functional) .25-21 Stevens from donor brass if you have a lathe, the right series of dies and and patience.

A 44 1/2 action starts at about $1000 and goes up from there from what I encountered when looking for one a while ago ,but did find a complete rifle on the EE for about that .The rifle I ended up with had a new CPA lever and SS barrel in 25-20 Winchester with nice wood and was happy to get it for that
I would say if the rifle is in good + condition in original condition would command a lot more .
Dies and brass for your will not be inexpensive ,but will add more value to the rifle as a package
Just an opinion

I am watching this thread in interest as i bought a 044 1/2 last winter in 22. I relined it, put on new wood, blued, casehardened and now it shoots great. I also built a 22 mag barrel for it. It is still in the white in the pic but it is blued now. I would be hard pressed to part with it but it would be interesting to know what the 044 1/2 are going for. I bought it thinking it was a 44 1/2 so stepped up to the plate a bit more than I probably should have. In the end, however, it is a great rifle.

and by the way the 44 22lr does shoot nice :)
back in march I paid 900 for this 44 1/2 on the EE,RS barrel SS in 25-20 win and a CPA replacement lever in mechanically sound condition is the way I received her

did cosmetic work to it had the action cc and the SS barrel had to be cerakoted and now looks like this and all in at $1550 with my free labor dies and brass on top

Just love those Stevens lever''s , I've limited
myself to the ''Favorite'' .

That said I would break my limitation
for a 44 1/2 .

Reviving this tread...man some nice 44’s and 44 1/2 WOW going to have to buy one soon...every time I see one my eyes go wide, heart feel a little lighter. Man a piece of art , that you can shoot. Doesn’t get better then that!

Hey Brian , I have seen a couple 44's just haven't seen a 44 1/2 that I could grab yet .
You are right they are a work of Art .... skwerl
