I don't think you are throwing your money away, I think it is good value for your money. Lots of people build custom rifles with that action. Enjoy it. Cheers Roscoe
i have one. its a really nice rifle for the money. i have it in 308. shoot nice also. and the action is really REALLY smooth! i would say go with it. i love mine and its not that exspencive.
Stevens are accurate rifles however if you are buying it to trade off later they really don't hold their resale value as your purchase value and benefit is in the low price they sell at.
So buy it to shoot and keep not as an investment.
No sale sports does not have any in stock .I bought one 2 weeks ago had to order from cabelas.its a newer 200 as it does not have the side spring trigger assembly.it has the non adjustable rear coil spring setup like the axis.I guess i will be buying a rifle basix trigger in the future.40 rounds of 45 gr jhp winchesters through it so far accuracy with them is nothing exciting.
So they have modified the trigger assembly?
I know wholesale in Winnipeg has one I wonder if it's
The old or new style?
I should probably check into that before buying when did they change?
This years production run or last?

I have a stock one in 223. I have only had it out twice but I am very happy with it. Check if SFRC has any left, they had an really good deal on them when I got mine just after Christmas.
They can be a bit of a pain as far as loading and feeding with that small diameter case. Mine shot great for the first few hundred rounds then accuracy dropped off a bit. The bbl has a few bad spots in the rifling and copper fouled. Cleaned the copper out and it was good again but not as good as new. Also the stock is so flexible that it can be a realy hard gun to shoot well of the bench.
All in all you can't go wrong for the price if cheap and dirty is what you need.
I got one in 223,sure it looks a lil cheap and a flimsy stock,But I only paid a lil over $300. I handload some 55gr-max with some h335,and it's a real tac driver,I love that lil rifle,,AND TRUST ME,,I ain't selling it..lol
So i stopped by Cabelas on my way home from work and would you know it they had a Stevens 200 .223 with the scope on it , the combo package i guess? appears to be unfired they said it was a mail order return.
309.00$ plus taxes, so of course i bought it.
got it home and tried out the trigger using snap caps and its HORRIBLE !
adjusted the wire spring and its somewhat better but i will be looking into replacing the spring today. But the price was right so cant complain now as long as it shoots straight i will be a happy camper, fingers crossed.
