Stevens 200 Accuracy question

I was wondering how accurate the stevens 200 is, if it would be accurate enough in .22-250 for those 300-400yd. or longer shots, and if it would be accurate enough to justify topping it off with a tasco 10-40X50mm, or if it would be better off with a lower-powered scope?

Im getting around 1" or less using .223 45grn HP Winchester White Box Varmint. I might try some other loads to see if I can cut the groupings down. I might try my 223 againt some gophers when I make a trip to AB.

I hope to get out and try some handloads this Monday with my 223 Stevens.

I've adjusted th etriggger down to 4lb, which was as low as i could get it and have it still function.

So far with factory ammo, I've been getting pretty good groups, but i think I shoud be able to make better ammo.

I have topped it with a 3-9x40 Bushnell Elite thsat I had lying around.
 
Haven't seen one in 22-250, but both my 300 Win Mag and 223 Rem were one inch rifles right out of the box, just the way they came, didn't change a thing.

They only got better when we tuned a few things up. :D

It depends on the target, if it is larger like a coyote or woodchuck then yea a 1 moa gun could work to 300-400. For prarrrie dogs it's a bit like pissing in the wind.

And I woud thing that that high of magnification is not a good match for that rig, to really use that sort of magnification the gun should be shooting .25 moa. Again depending on the usage somthing like 4x-12x (bigger varmints) 6x-18x (for the smaller ones) should be about right. After a point, more magnification will not make the gun more accurate, and it will start being a major PIA in the field.
