I am planning on building up a Stevens 200 in .243Win in a few months for hunting in my local area (.275 or less cal restriction). I also want to build a few other Stevens 200s in other cals larger cals for hunting up north or w/e I can use 30 cals. Is there any cal that the Stevens just doesn't work well with?

Thanks, UTAF

if you are 'buying several Stevens in different chamberings', why not set up a better switch-barrel rifle.
you could buy a Stevens or a higher end Savage, and rather than keep buying more Stevens you could pick up prechambered match barrels from Mysticplayer, and a set of headspace gauges for each chambering, and switch them yourself?
or a T/C Encore and buy different barrels for it. the barrels will cost you nearly as much as a Stevens but youll have an arguably better platform, with more flexibility.

I'm with springfisher, they're light and the .300 can rattle your brain pretty good. Seems to kick a bit harder than other lightweight guns, possibly an ergonomic thing.

We've got (tween me and my buds) Stevens 200's in 22-250,243(2),308, 270(4) and 7mm Mag. NO PROBS with ANY of them! Annnnnndddd....they all showed a preference for Winchester Super X Ammo.....several of them we tried 5 different types of factory stuff too! For the money, they're awesome!...lots of upgrades available too.

Ive had a .308, .270, and now a .223 and all shoot MOA at the least. My .223 with the proper handloads has put up several 1/2 MOA and less groups. I just need to get my hands on some more H335! God damn H332 isn't cutting it! Start reloading and you will get into a whole new world of frustration with the occasional moment of GLORY!

These are the best so far!
