I am thinking about building a 200 for target shooting. does anyone have any pictures of their stevens 200 projects?

Here's some pics of my 30-06 to 338-06:

how hard would it be to convert one to a 223 wssm?

If you're using it for target shooting (punching paper) I don't know why you would want a 223 wssm. But since this is a free country and we are free to make our own decisions I will try to help....

Savage only makes one rifle that I am aware of with the same size bolt face as a .223 wssm, a Savage 16 bear hunter in .325 WSM.

You might be able to purchase a replacement bolt face for the wsm calibers. In that case it would be a matter of swapping the barrel and the bolt face on a short action Stevens/Savage. There might also be issues with the magazine follower as well.

A good person to ask would be Mystic Precision (a CGN sponsor) who knows a lot about Savage rifles.

Here's a guide to different bolt faces and calibers that I "borrowed" from another site on the internet. If there are any inaccuracies don't blame me.

That's a nice gun. I just ordered a marlin xl7 but I am going to try and order a Stevens 200 soon to play with..

get a cheap used wsm action and buy a custom made barrel and my my your in business.

or option two buy a short action in 308 or what ever and buy a custom barral and a magunum bolt face .

me i would pick up a wsm action and buy the barral already chambered

buy the wsm action for whats its worth not what people want. very undesired due to the lack in ease of swapping in and out

where can you buy the bolt faces? and it wouldn't matter if it is a stevens 200 or a savage 110 would it?

Jerry AKA Mystic Precision can get you most if not ALL savage parts straight from Savage.

Custom Stevens build eh?

Custom and build are not the words I would really use to describe most Stevens "builds"... More like "modifications"... Your wallet and the holes in the paper have to shake hands at some point and choose to get along or you may as well just buy a full custom action and build from there...

Here's my 200 in .223 with a x10 bushy target/tactical in a Bell & Carlson tactical medalist...

Here's what it does with 69gr SMK hand loads

That stevens 200 cost me around what I would have spent on a bull barrel accutriggerd factory target rifle....

I have a savage 111 package rifle that I just finished up and am playing with some loads... Cost?... Lots... Performance? Jury is still out... But it's real comfy to shoot :D

oh yes i just remebered that the 223wssm and 243wssm had chrome lined barrels so with that knowledge i think you might be lucky to get 500 out of a ss custom which runs at roughly .80 cents a squezze
