Stevens 200 overhaul

Im going to go new for sure. Just not sure which brand. If i go with a prefit i can learn to do it myself otherwise ill be sending it out.
26" 1 in 10 twist. Thats about all im certain of as of now. Likely a bit on the thick side. It will be for hunting only
Stock choice is between a boyds laminate or another mdt product
Still looking into triggers

Actually MDT is probably the best choice, as the Stevens normally has 4.275” action screw spacing, which is the old Savage 10 spacing. Most aftermarket Savage stocks come with the 4.400” action screw spacing. MDT are about the only ones I’ve found with the little adapter, so that you can use either length screw spacing.

Thank you for getting in touch with us. As long as your rifle has an action screw spacing of 5.062" center to center, then any of our chassis systems in the Savage LA inlet will fit without issue. However, if the internal magazine stays with the action, you may need to extend the cutout in the action rearward to allow the magazine to latch

ah yes on some Savage actions the internal mag was attached to the receiver, all the Stevens 200s I owned the magazine was integral to the stock.

the Savage 110 or 116 I don't remember which, in 300WM I used to own the magazine box was attached to the receiver and a real pain to remove from the receiver, and even then it didn't work with removeable magazines unless you machined a little off the mage well.

Oh and 25-06 is a good choice, fantastic for deer hunting :)

My screw up. My experience with Stevens has all been with short actions - 308 & 223. Wasn’t stopping to think about the long action that you’ve got for the 25-06. Just went right to the one issue I’ve encountered over the years. But, all that aside, MDT is still always an excellent choice.

I havent had the time to pull the action and measure myself. I have 3 mdt chassis's now. I love them. Im thinking about getting the ess chassis for this one. Too bad they dont have the xrs in the savage long action as i think id like to try that one as well. Maybe next rifle lol

My stevens the mag stayed in the stock so im hoping detachable mags will work smoothly.
