Stevens 200 Rings and Bases

Just got a Stevens 200 (in .25-06) and was wondering about rings and bases. As you may suspect I am on a tight budget, so what is my best bet without spending a ton of money? I still haven't got a scope for it yet so I am just trying to get an idea of what people would use.

Weaver bases & Burris "Z" rings or B-Square "Lynx" rings for Weaver bases will do nicely. Medium rings will give you enough clearance to mount a 3-9x40mm scope. A good secure set-up without breaking the bank... ;)
 
Evster, if you are interested I have a Leupold one piece base(right hand action) and a set of Leupold medium rings that are in good shape. I will send them to you for free as long as you can be patient as I might not be able to make it to the post office for four or five days.

powder burner, I am going to attempt to get used to the grey plastic stock first, if I can't then a new stock is on the agenda.

It is nice to help out once and a while, when you can. I have done this many times before and dont mind a bit. Maybe giving Evan free rings and a base might help him save up for some quality optics.

Most of us shoot because we enjoy it, I just hope I can help someone enjoy it as much as I do.

Do something nice for someone, its Christmas time :D

There is nothing wrong with the stock on a Stevens 200 except that it is ugly. Get a new and better stock if you wish. I simply spent an hour or so carefully sanding all the seams and rough spots on the stock and then hit it with Black Krylon Fusion paint, then a little buffing with steel wool and oil.... beautiful!!!
