:) :) I just ordered one and cant wait until it gets here and have a question in regards to bases and rings. What are you suing in regards to bases and rings on your 200 ? What size weaver bases will fit the short action 200 ? And if I wanted to upgrade my stock with a Boyds is the 200 built on the Savage 110 action ? I will be mounting a 4-12 on mine and hopefully be ready for groundhogs.

Yeah, it's 2x #46 Weaver bases or extension base #402 if you need more room. I got away with using medium rings with a 42mm scope. Any more and you'd probably need high rings.

Thanks for the advise guys, will get the bases and med ring as scope has 40 mm objective. I wan teverything ready when she gets here I just need to some dies and research some reloads, the white box winchester will used to break her in and then use the brass for reloads.

what grain of bullet? Wally world sells the 45g hp white box of winchesters (40 rds) for 17.99 are those the ones or the 55 g? .

Just got my Stevens 200 in .223 yesterday. Thinking of putting a Tasco Varmint 6-24 on it. I know it's a cheapie but with the low recoil I think it would be fine.
I'll try that Win ammo, Ted! ;)

my stevens 223 arrived today . everything fits well and is nice and tight . The stock i like the shape of considering it is tupperwear. now i just have to mount my rings & scope(4x12 banner) and it will be to the range this weekend. :p

For a Rifle, rings and bases the grand total was $406 and that includes the shipping  The rifle is far more then one could hope for in that price range .

Where are the .223's in stock.

Everyone is getting one but me  .

I would even consider one in .243

Ditto, since I have one collecting dust. What height of rings do ya think? Mine is 6-24X44. I will most likely be going Leupold's.

With the 44mm objective lense I think high rings might be necessary but the newer ones are 42mm which might work with a medium height set. (edit: WILL work - see Mauser Oberndorf's post on page one!) I'm going to go with Weavers. Also I'm thinking of spending a few extra dollars and getting a Bushnell D&D 6-18. I haven't actually played with either, so I'll check back in when I do! ;)

Medium rings should be fine Monty! With no sights on the rifle I think you will be good.

Dave.

Just for the record: I was using B-Square Medium Sport Utility Rings, not Weaver rings. I'm not sure if they are the same in height. I would think they are probably pretty close if not the same.

In response to jiffydawg's post about the .308: I don't have a .308 myself in the Stevens but a friend of mine does. She kicks like a mule but shoots 1/2" groups with handloads, right out of the box.
