Recently bought a Stevens Model 200 in 25-06. Thought it looked pretty drabby so I bought some paint. This is how it turned out, whatcha think?

I think it looks a hell of a lot better.

You did a good job with the paint. I think your gonna like your stevens. They tend to be pretty accurate. I just bought my second Stevens and have a couple of Savages. The stevens triggers tend to be a bit heavy for best target accuracy though they are fine for hunting use once lightened.

What rings and bases will you put on it.?

polishing turds

I know your only joking! :p

It's an individual taste thing! Some people berate the Stevens 200 because they are inexpensive. However, my .223 Stevens 200 will shoot 9/16 to 3/4 inch five round groups at 100 yards, and I have shot several five round groups that were under five inches at 500 yards, using 60 grain Hornady bullets.

With accuracy like that, out of a $300 rifle, who cares what it looks like? While I did not paint mine, I did add an aluminum channel piece to stiffen up the forearm.

Hmmmm! Perhaps I should paint it. How about the flourescent greens, pink, red, blue, or maybe fuschia like the Benchrest boys do? A paint job like that could cut about two thousands of an inch off my groups.:)
.

I like it, I too had one (.308) that I put in a Boyds thumbhole stock, decent scope and bi-pod, was getting 3/4" groupings @ 100 yards - not too shabby for an el-cheapo rifle. They are great rifles and if anyone hangs s#@t on you for owning it, kindly point out to them that Stevens 200 Rifles are actually Savage's Mod 11 pre accutrigger (surplus) - and thats a fact that comes from the good folk at Savage. Im thinking about getting another in - 22.250

Lol what's wrong with weaver mounts and a barska scope? I got a 6x24x44 barska on my 25-06 works great. Its no leupold but I can see a ground hog twinkle his nose at 200 yards

I'm not into plastics and camo, but you did a damn fine job. People who put you down are just pissed because their $1500 rifle shoots no better nor looks any better than yours.

Did you trim the moulding marks?

Most of the Stevens that I have seen are uncomfortably sharp on the plastic mould lines.

Love the combination of mesh overlay and natural leaves, I may have to try that on my next camo job.

Haha, nothing actually! I currently use a Tasco 6x24 in a Weaver rings in my "Precision" rifle. Yep, it's a Savage 12BVSS in .223 and it is very accurate.
