Special on Cabelas for the Stevens 200 w/ a tasco scope.
I'm just wondering if the rings/mount on the rifle are decent. That way if I don't like the scope or want to upgrade, I won't have to worry about getting new rings & mount.

I was going to get a handgun, but realistically, a coyote rifle would find more use.

Cheap is the word

well i bought the same combo and I have to say I love it. But the first thing I did was take the stock off and sand her down and paint her. Then I invested a little money and bought a banner 6x18x50mm and i'm quite happy with it. It would have been nice to get a better one with turrets but such was the budget. what caliber did you buy? i bought a 223 and it works very nice once you find a good bullet/load combo. Inch at 200 but it does like the heavier bullets for sure. i hope u enjoy yours. Like you said a coyote gun will get more use and tinkering with it is lots of fun.

I haven't bought one yet, but it will be in .223 if/when I do.
Did you change the scope rings/mount when you put the new scope on?

Chances are the mounts on a package rifle are going to be on the "econo" side, as will be the scope. You might be happier to just buy the rifle alone then add your own mounts & scope to suit.

I've owned a couple of Stevens now. The one I had in 7mm-08 I put on a Bushnell Elite 3200 3-9x40mm in Burris Z rings on Weaver bases. The current one I have in .243 wears a Simmons 4-12x40mmAO in the same rings/base set-up. The Simmons is on the "econo" side but I already had it from before so it will do until I decide on something better for that one.

NAA.

x2! ..... There's lots of good deals on better scopes on the EE. Just buy a set of weaver bases and Burris Zee rings with the rifle and look for the scope later.
