Stevens 200....

great , cheap rifle. will do anything you ask of it. i would stiffen up the stock or replace it with a boyds. mine is in 22-250 and shoots .5 moa at 200 meters. fun and accurate and you can get lots of parts for them..

cheers
angry.

I love mine in 2506. Very smooth very accurate. Less then moa at 100 yards. Then thin barrels heat up fast. The stock is cheap and ugly but I still love mine and will buy aanother

I bought one in .308. I found it accurate enough even with factory ammunition. I added an aftermarket trigger which made it even more nasty. I sold mine only because I am a southpaw and wanted a faster follow-up shot. If I was a righty, I'd buy this or the Marlin XS7 bolt rifle for a value price.

I want to order a boyd's stock.

How do i tell if i have a short or long action? Is this calibre specific or model specific?

I want to order the stock at the within a few days of buying the gun.

Thanks.

action length is usually caliber specific, if you are going to be ordering a boyd's stock make sure to measure the distance between the action screws to make sure your getting the proper stock.

I'd love a Boyd's stock.

I guess i'll wait for the rifle to show up before going out and ordering stuff for it. I read that it's ashort action and have found a site dedicated to this rifle.

What have you done to yours and do you have any pics?

I've bedded the action and stiffened the forend using carbon fibre arrows and epoxy, also added a coat of paint with some camo. The factory stocks are alright they just need some work to get them stiff enough.

I love mine in .223. I stiffened the stock with a square rod, swapped out the trigger and got groups well under .5 at 100 yards with handloads. Then I found a boyds red laminate thumbhole in here for 50 bucks, promptly bought it...and now I have a red gopher slayer...

Sounds sweet!!!

I want mine to be the yote killer for where i live/hunt. The damn things have kept me up for the last 4 months, i need to slaughter a few. I think one of them ate my wife's cat. My one neighbor said he saw a few wolves too. I may be going on a varmit killing spree soon!

Did you get that from me?

Boyds does make some nice stocks, I just don't like the thumbhole design at all.

I'm kind of partial to the Stevens 200 myself. Here's a pair of them that I've pimped out myself. The back one is a .223 with a Nikon Buckmasters 4.5x14x40 SF in Burris Signature Zee rings on Warne bases. The front one is a .243 with a Nikon Coyote Special 4.5x14x40 SF in the same rings and bases. Both have Rifle Basix triggers set at 2 lbs. and over sized bolt handles.

The Stevens is esentially a savage action 11/111 or 110. Accuracy is suposed to be excellent as mentioned above.
The only thing it didn't like was it doesn't have a detachable box mag. Must be top loaded which is fine and likely makes the gun much more accurate. My issue was that I hunt coyotes with some fellows that use hounds and the in an out of the truck loading and unloading is a pain in the butt without the clip!!! I like the clip because i can visually see how many rounds go in and come out. Not using it to say I don't need to check the chamber. Just that I feel better if I see 4 shells in the clip,... in and out of the rifle. I went to one of the savage pkg rifles FXP11 in .243 because it had the D/M. if not for that I'd have bought the Stevens

PS: get the rifle basix trigger for that 200 you won't regret it!!!!!

Enjoy your new Stevens let us know how she shoots
