I see the new Stevens 200's are up to as much as $440 now. I know firearms are all up across the board. Just interested in CGN feedback. Do you think they are still "a bargain" and "worth it"?

Me, I'd still say "yes".

It would be interesting if those posting comment have owned or shot one.

I have had a couple. Currently have one of the new ones in .243 Win.

My vote was "yes".

They were a great buy in the $300 bracket. But for $400, and the dollar is at .80 some odd cents and rising, the math doesn't add up. Thankfully my rifle buying days are all but over. I think very soon we will see pricing going through the roof where as quality will decline with manufacturers trying to cut costs.

meh, it's all relative.

In other words, relative to the price of all other rifles, the cost of a stevens 200 hasn't actually changed.

They were a deal at $300..........

I also havent bought a gun since the recent round of price increases and wont for who knows how long. Maybe never. I dont have a true 'need' for a new gun right now.

I have spent more money and time on trapping in the last few years and I expect that trend to continue.

They were interesting at 350$ shipped. If you want one you may as well keep checking the EE since they pop up every week or so. A lot of people bought to see what they were about and threw in back into the safe. I sold mine in the EE after 30 rounds down the Pipe. They are indeed accurate for the money.

$440 hmmmm tough one, got mine at $319 great gun accurate out of the box, so yes a good deal.

Keep in mind all rifles went up in price so it still is a good deal for a simple and accurate rifle.

There are a few cheap Stevens 200's left in my area...but they are all LA's in 300 Win Mag. My guess they will be around for a while yet.

At 440.00, I would still get a Stevens. Reason being, everything else has taken a huge jump as well, some are out of proportion to others.

Tikka T-3 Lite's in blue a few months ago....were available here locally at 599.00. Now, those same Tikka's are now 869.00. I'll admit, at 599.00, they were a deal, and affordable. At 869.00 (stainless T-3's are over 9 bills) I'm not so sure.....coulda shoulda woulda got one when I had the chance.....

My guess is that local shops will try to price the new Stevens 200 at 399.00, once their Savage back orders come in.

My friend bought a Tikka T3 Lite at BPS for the $599 price. I tried to get the same gun at a local gun shop and they are $850+ now. I most likely won't be buying any rifle anytime soon myself.

I got mine for $400. I could have bought it cheaper from WSS but supporting Reliable Gun was worth the extra few bucks - it's the same as the ones that Prophet River is selling for $350. I think it was a steal considering the accuracy (1/2 MOA or better when I do my part) and the quality. Sure, the stock is a bit crude, but if you're so fussy grab a sanding block and take the mould lines off it. Then hit it with your favourite camo pattern spray can and voila. At $450 they're not a steal, but again, consider the quality. The trigger on mine took some adjustment and is nice and crisp and a reasonable weight (never weighed it but likely around 5lb which is perfect for a cold weather hunting rifle). All it took was about a half hour, a couple of screwdrivers and a diagram I found on Google. You can't do that with a Remington or Winchester. If you want fancy, pay for fancy. You want functional - buy a Stevens!

Pretty sure i paid $309 plus tax for mine back 2 or 3 yrs ago. Under $400 shipped to the door with weaver bases:eek::dancingbanana:

P.S. Accurate as hell too!!

i own one and the only reason i have one is because it was affordable (340$) under 400$ , if it where anymore i would have saved up a bit more and gone with the savage name and with accutrigger. Now dont get me wrong i would buy another if it was between the 299$ and 360$ range

I just picked one up in 223 for $359. Not the price they were when I was first looking at them but nothing is. I now have all the guns I need.

Given the fact that the price of everything else is rising on par with it, it is still the same bang for the buck it has always been. The question that needs to be asked is if any of the shooting stuff is worth the price that is being asked for it.
