For all you fellas that have Stevens Model 200's [other than .223's or .22-250's] what scope & mounts set-up are you using? Got one coming in 7mm-08 Rem and am contemplating my 'glass options'....

I had a Busnell 3200 5-15x40 on her.
Worked well for me

A solid choice.

But I'd recommend something in a 3-9 range. I find it's easier to acquire your target with a wider field of view. More magnification is nice at the range, but can be a bit of an annoyance 'out there'

Thanks for the replies for far, guys. Especially, Boer seun who actually had a Stevens 200. It's nice that most recommend a Leupold VXII 3-9 scope but I'm interested in what guys with Stevens 200's in ctg other than .223 & .22-250 are actually using...;)

Kind of an 'informal poll'...:)

I dont need to own the rifle to know what optics are best for it ;)

Bartell, this thread isn't about knowing what optics are best for a given rifle... The thread is about what actual Stevens 200 owners are using on theirs.

I know you are a Remington man. And you will probably never own a Stevens. That's fine. I have about 12 Remington rifles in my gun room right now. And a lot of them have Leupold optics. And for obvious reasons.

But I'm getting a Stevens 200 because, for one, I want to see what the hoopla is all about... 'Nuff said? :p

hey, no worries from this end ;)

I *had* basically a Stevens at one point, a Savage 10 in 300saum, pre accutrigger, blind magazine.

It wore Burris Sig Series rings, Burris 2 piece bases, and Bausch & Lomb Elite 3000 3-9x40mm on it.

Well like I said I used a Bushnell on her, but use leup. on my 30/06 and yes it is a better scope but for low recoiling rifles I would buy a 3200 again just because it's a good scope for almost half of the leupoldt's price.
Actually sold the Stevens too you to buy a 3200 for my 7x57.
Now if it was my future 375H&H it would be Leupoldt again.
my 2cents

I have owned four Savages and two Stevens, all were topped with leupold scopes accept one. Does this make me qualified enough to respond to this post? :p :D

I have a leupold 4-12 rifleman on my 25-06,with the long action I had to go with the 402,i think, extension base as the action is quite long.Works very well.Burris signature rings.

So, I guess you don't wanna know what I've got on my Stevens 200 in .223? :D

Sure, I would... but I structured this thread geared toward 'larger game' calibers. I figured the .223's and .22-250's would be geared toward 'varminting' and the optics might reflect that application.

The one I'm getting is in 7mm-08. Though, it would be interesting to see what other 7mm08, .308, .270 and .30-06 [and even 7mm Mag & .300 Win Mag] users were putting up for optics & mounts.

Interesting... Personally, I am a huge fan of the B&L/Bushnell Elite 3000/3200 series scopes. In fact my Ruger 77 'tangsafety' 7x57mm wears a B&L 3000 3-9x40mm scope...
