I just picked up a neat old Stevens 22/410 over under. My buddy had a Savage 24 in 30-30/20ga and it was quite a bit different. His had a selective hammer and the barrels were separate from about 4 inches from the breech, held at the muzzle with a barrel band that provided little support to keep the 30-30 barrel aligned properly.
This Stevens has a selector switch on the receiver and the barrels are one piece the full length of them. Much nicer setup.
It seems quite accurate for open sights and is really fun to shoot.
I am not sure the age but given that it had no serial number from factory, I would think it is pre 68. Also no mention of Savage on the rifle, just Stevens.
It has those "Tenite" stocks (which is fancy talk for plastic) and is in very good shape overall.
Wondering who else has one of these babies and might know the age of it roughly.
***Update, I found a "C" stamped in the bottom of the barrel under the fore stock, this means 1951 according to the website I found. Anyone confirm that?****
