Hi there, I am just about finished my hornady 55gr sp bullets...they shoot really well out of my .223 stevens....Wondering if I should be reloading a better performing bullet on coyotes than I am using, or just keep using the hornady's....I do not have anything/experience to compare them to....I am a beginner coyote hunter and low count 300-400 a year reloader but I have shot two coyote's with this bullet this season...One dropped in its tracks, the other went about 30yds....both were about 100yds away and in the vitals/boiler room....appreciate any suggestions you may have....thanks...
Frank

The 1-9 twist in the Stevens is optimal for those 55 grainers.
I have a pet load with the same bullets, and have gotten
great accuracy results with them.
less than .75 at 100 yards.
Your putting the coyotes down with single hits so there you go.
If it aint broke don't fix it

Fix it, improve it and play with it. If you don't like reloading then leave it alone. If you enjoy reloading then play around with some different bullets. V-MAX, Blitzkings, and bergers would all be good choices if you want to play.

I started reloading because I like to experiment. You are asking so you probably do too.

Experiment and have fun:ar15:

Be sure to try some 40 gr Nosler Ballistic Tips. Simple to get 3700 fps in the standard 223, and can do so with at least four diffrent powders. They kill like lightning, and usually stay iniside, with minimal pelt damage.

thanks for your suggestions...I do like the fact that I reload my mine own, not the funnest thing but it is relaxing and gives me a sense of accomplishment....I will try some of the V-Max or Nosler Ballistic Tips.....Thanks ...
