Stevens 300 rear sight question

I have one of these sweet little rifles, the rear sight has no elevator wedge, am I correct in assuming it was made with one??

All the images on google show a rear sight elevator. Is there a slot for one in your rear sight?

If you have the savage/stevens 300f "trapper model" with the 13" barrel, it's not really worth using the irons imho. But yes, there should be an elevator under that sight. Generic? No idea. Maybe you can contact the company for one.

So does one just shoot from the hip if the iron sights aren’t worth using??? Really ?

I had one and the sights were ok at 20 yrds but moving further out I found it difficult to compensate with it due to the sights being so close together. It shot really well with a scope though.
