Stevens 300F shorty at 200 yards - video

sweet. Nice shooting. I thought these rifles would still be accurate at a range. What type of ammo were you using or was it to early in a morning for me to catch that?

Good shooting, I have yet to put a scope on my 300F so I don't know how small of groups I could get.

You should try bedding it and maybe making thicker bottom metal for it and see if you can get even more accuracy.

Meh, it's just a plinker and close range grouse and rabbit getter for me. It'll be used mostly with iron sights, not the scope, so I'm not too concerned with longer range accuracy. I just wanted to see what it could do out of the box.

Time to revive this thread... somebody must have thrown a scope on by now. I was wondering what kind of groups can be expected at 25 and 50 yards. Thanks in advance.

A scope @ 25/50yrds is almost cheating, as a red dot alone would make an inch or less at that distance.

Sure it will, but at 50 yards it will also cover a rabbit's head completely...I like to shoot'em in the eye. Anyways, I just want to know if the gun itself is capable of 1 inch at 50 yards... do you own one of these guns or are you just upping your post count?

I own a stevens 305f, with, you guessed it, a red dot. And it can take out a fox at 50yrds.
After I sighted it in at around 60paces with a group average of around an inch with a 3moa red dot.

I think my post count is enough without needing anymore padding.

EGW Scope base. Yes, they will ship to Canada.

After watching mmatt videos and reviews, I went and bought one from Frontier Firearms around xmas time.

Really love it.

I was looking at this brand of mount from DIP.

I like the cutout for the ejection area and that enormous Savage lettering.

I suppose it is...and the 3moa is a good idea. JMHO, but I don't think it's enough for headshots on rabbits/accuracy testing out to 50yds. When I get a new gun, I like to overscope it and try a bunch of different ammo to see what it likes... and then I'd probably put a 4x on it.

I assume you're referring to the sight and not the rifle.
You're probably right, if I was using it for shooting rabbits, I would scope it. The red dot is good for any pests that enter my yard, where headshots aren't important. I do have a cheap bushnell rimfire scope, if it was warmer out I'd love to go and give you results with a scope @ 50yrds.
Might do that in the spring/summer to satisfy my own curiosity.

I sent DIP three emails inquiring if they ship to Canada. I didn't receive a reply.
