So I jumped at a chance to get a mint condition Stevens favourite in .22lr today. Its in mint condition and was a great price. Anyone ever shot/owned one of these before? What should I expect when I get it and take it out to the range? It looks like a pretty basic .22 rifle, but I like the classic look and function of it. It was a bit of an impulse buy, but the price was right.

Here s a pick of mine a Varner Stevens replica

Well I still have to go pick it up before I can post pics. I didn't want to pay for shipping and I could use an excuse to go for a bit of a drive so I'll post em when I get it.

I've got your gun's Grandfather over here. An old Stevens Crackshot 26. Shoots not bad for a dark and slightly pitted bore. It's also got lots of "patina". Still, it puts a helluva smile on my face when I line up the first shot and there's 6 or 7 reloads pinched between the fingers of my support hand... :D

the new ''stevens favorites''don't even compare with the quality of fit and finish on the Varners....case of ''coulda shouda''bought one when they first came on the market. They are scarce as hens teeth-and not too may people have even heard of them
