Stevens 311 opens when shot.

I have a stevens 311 that wants to open when shot. It locks up solid, I had the problem before and I replaced the top snap, now it doesn't go as far to the left as it used to, indicating the old piece was worn. However after a thousand rounds or so it has started to open again. The gun locks up like a vault yet the recoil of trap loads seems to allow the top snap to swing sideways. Sometimes it just pops a bit, othertimes it will open. I have a friend with an Ithaca double that has the same problem.

Anyone know of a solution?

You need a new latch spring, the one in your gun is weak and allowing recoil to over come it to open the action in recoil.....

I actually replaced that too, maybe I just got a faulty one. I'll try that. Anyone else have any thoughts on it? Is this a common problem? Or are my friend and I both experiencing it just a coincidence?
