Just thought I’d share a project I am nearly completed
It’s an old 620 Stevens in 2/34” that I had redivided from beside a water softener. It was looking fairly rough for finish when I found it, having rust freckles all over and didn’t cycle very smoothly. I was going to flip it for a project for someone else. Once I didn’t a little value checking I fell in love with this once I learned it was not only a take down, but a slam fire as well. Making it a nearly perfect option for a bear gun under my cot in camp.
I had sent it out to be refinished at Blackbox customs. I thought this bazooka green over the original wood would be a unique and off somewhat of time period appropriate colour. They did a fine job in the cerakote.
I am looking for a 520/620 heatshield to finish it off, leaving me with no option (?) but to chop the barrel to 18.6” and finish the trench gun look.cutting the barrel would even things up when broken down and rolling it up into a storage canvas for transport.

I’d love to hear a few opinions on this one, any cautions to chopping down the barrel?
