I may be getting a Stevens crack shot given to me. The receiver is in MINT condition with original finish and stock is still original. All the parts are in the receiver but............... here's the catch, It has no barrel or forstock.

How impossible would it be to find a barrel for it? Does anyone know if the Stevens favorite barrel would be the same?

If anyone knows where to find a barrel for it, let me know please.

Any advise would be appreciated.

Is it a number 16 Crackshot (thumb lever rolling block) or the number 26 Crackshot, an under lever action. Either way a Favorite barrel won't interchange although it would be possible to smith one to fit the number 16. The number 26 has the bore offset at the breech, like the No. 14 1/2, and although the forearms are pretty much the same, I don't believe the barrels will interchange between the Crackshot and the Little Scout. Unfortunately I don't have a No. 14 1/2 Little Scout at hand to do a proper comparison.

Phone Western Gun Parts yet? Worth a try.

There are a couple of the usual suspects that do the gun show tour around this part of the country, that are possible. Used gun parts dealers. Probably one or two guys doing the same thing out there.

Lots of collector interest in Stevens .22's, so the stuff gets saved and swapped around a bit.

Definitely sort out which model it is, and if possible, which variant. I figure the chances of finding parts that are as nice as this sounds to be, are slim, but you may get lucky that way too.

Cheers

This would be a perfect opportunity to get a shorter barrel, like one manufactured at 10 or 12 inches long, more ideal for a child's first rifle. Bits of Pieces could make one for you.

It's no sweat at all!
I've got a few stevens rifles , one wit a Douglas on it in 218BEE, and other M12 marksman with an Anschutz barrel in 22KHornet, and anothe crackshot in 22LR.
All have been re-barreld, it's easy for a giu with a lathe and a bit of know-how.
You can get a cheap 22 and take the barrel off, then re-thread and
re- chamber to the new action.

Ok I will check it out. I have worked with a lathe for a little while and I will see what it will take to make a new one. I believe the gun is in .25 rim fire. I haven't really got a chance to really look at the size of round but I am hopeing it is .22. I called and price a box of 25. and it will be $1.50 a round. $75 for a box or 50!!!! I couldn't believe it.

Thanks for the reply
