Stevens Favorite '' Side Plate '' Special

I have a few boxes of .25 rf, would like to find an old revolver that takes that cartridge, i am not even sure they exist, if not i will likely sell most of them, does anyone know of a handgun that uses 25 stevens? I have seen a few rifles around for sale but were quite seedy looking.

Hi everyone, I have come into a .25 Stevens Favorite through a family inheritance. I have done as much research as I could but having trouble putting the bits and pieces together to get an estimate of date of manufacture. The gun appears to be in great condition for it's age with a good bore. Apologies for the mediocre pictures. It did come with 18 rounds of ammo in original box, however I have been told that my uncle attempted to put a round through many decades ago and the cartridge failed to discharge. Shame that ammo is no longer available. Thought I would share here and see if anyone could guesstimate anything about it. Reciever and barrel stamped "10 730". Thank you

The Introduction for '' J. Stevens Arms and Tool Co.'' into the single shot
lever action rifle race was in the Removable side pate in 1891/92 .

First issued was the ''Favorite'' small frame model followed by the ''Ideal'' large frame model.

Both were PAT. AUG.11 , 1885 based on O. W. Horrs , Breach Loading Gun.

The true number manufactured is not known tho most Stevens ''Gurus'' & others
place the amount at 2500 and I have compiled a list of over 75 units ( large & small )
with serial numbers up to 2800 from the lowest of 14 .

Because of high machining costs and updated production methods these beauties
were replaced in 1894 with one piece receivers Model 44 & Favorite. (boys gun )

The two rifles pictured here are in my personal collection of Stevens Favorites only
hovering around the outside.
