Stevens Favorites

Beautiful! They're some of my favorite .22's. but i've had little to no luck getting my hands on one that is in good enough condition to fire. Last one I picked up has a buggered hammer, and the firing pin ended up being a piece of a nail filed into a rough firing pin shape.

Ordered a new 'original part' pin from homestead arms in the US.

Got another filed down nail.

Ended up finding a stevens Model 30G but it's not the same as a good proper Favorite!

I assume they must be the Favorite Model in RF Cal. ? At first they looked like the Ideal Model in CF Cal. that I collect.
I see people here advertizing the RF cal, for $300.00 / box of 50. Too bad that CBC in S. America don't start making them
again.

I use to have a few, but you have me beat, I did have a few 44 actions back in the day.
Last one I had went with a nos 22 barrel I picked up 50 yrs ago.
Very hard to find a 22 with any kind of good bore., 25 and 32's will show up with good bores sometimes.

Excuse my ignorance, what model and year.

Stevens Favorite's. They were a pretty popular and inexpensive single shot rifle that Stevens made from around 1898 on forward.
In 1915, they changed the breech block and a couple other minor details, still calling it a Favorite. The later ones, naturally enough, get called the 1915 Model.

They are still common enough that finding a decent one for a decent price is still an option.

My kids started on a # of small falling blocks. Mostly favourites, had a buddy sleeve a few 25-&-32 cal. They were a pleasure to shoot. A very old BSA sleeve shot the best. Lots of gophers, cans and stuffed toys on the fence fell to the youngster aim. Thanks for the flashback.
