Just wondering, has anyone here every tried taking a savage mag assembly and importing it into a stevens? hypthetically, lets say we have some savage parts kicking around and a stevens i would like to have a drop mag in...

any input apreciated
thanks

I know that it would be much easier with the newer centre-feed Stevens. Just swap out the stock, and get a Savage DM floorplate and magazine. With the older Stevens, the screw spacings were different, which would make the attachment of the DM floorplate tricky business. I was faced with a similar dilemma with an older blind-mag Savage. I just ended up trading it in on a DM Savage in the same calibre, and probably saved myself a bit of cash on the entire conversion.

You should be able to get the det mag assembly from the last gen actions to fit. This is the side button release.

A savage and a stevens are the same action and similar gen actions share near identical specs.

The easiest conversion for the 223 is to get a new gen center feed Stevens and drop it into a Savage stock with bottom metal.

But the time you spend money to buy the Savage parts and the stevens, you would be better off just buying a ready to go Savage.

And you end up with a much nice trigger...

Just did it myself.

Jerry

PS I have a modified bottom metal for cheap that I tried to modify to work with an older gen Stevens. Didn't work but is easily salvageable to work with a new gen Stevens..
