Hi all
I got this little rifle from my Great-grand father when I was a kid.
I know he bought it in 1952 from a guy who was down on his luck. It is a great shooter and have many fond memories o trodding the bush on our farm with it.
I have never seen one like it, and would like to know if anyone knows when these were made. Anywhere I could trace the serial number to find the exact year of manufacture?
It is still in SA and I am haveing a hell of a time getting it over here

mmm...no one knows or ever seen one of these?
They must be pretty scarce.
Better phone that lawyer and let him see that my guns still in Africa gets over here!!!!!!!!!!!

Just Google it.
An inexpensive bolt gun. Same basic design as Savage 4C, 4CD, 4D, 4E, Stevens and Springfield 84C, 84CD, 84D, 84,E, 56C (22 bolt action repeating clip rifle).
Stevens and Springfield are used for Savage's cheap lines.

It's a $50-$100 gun. Good Savage rimfire models go for peanuts. I've bought several of what I consider desireable and rare models of Savages for under $100.

From the Savage web site:
