anyone know if a stevens model 200 can be converted from internal box magazine to external.


what are some good syntetic stock paints or coatings i want a textured kind of thing

what other stocks fit this reciver in .270

As far as converting to a clip or removable mag. No, it ain't happening. You can purchase a variety of nice wooden stocks, lamited included from Boyd's and Richard's MIcrofit. Having said that, the factory Stevens cheapo plastic stock that you have lends itself to easy modifications such as bedding, forend stiffeng, buttstock stiffening and even painting, all which will amount to a great stock at affordable costs.

What you want is not a Stevens. If your thinking a detachable magazine and different stocks, you want to buy a Savage. For about $250 more, the price of a new stock, you can get a Savage in a wood or black synthetic stock, with or without a detachable magazine.

The 200' is nothing but unrefined Savage 110. Lots of aftermarket stocks offered in the Savage 110 long action configuration.

Save your pennies and buy a proper Savage if you want the removable mag, etc. Steven's are entry level and don't lend themselves to the level of customizing that you are proposing (without substantial associated costs).

Aftermarket stocks for detachable mag Savages are pretty much non-existent. You'd need a stock and the factory detach mag assembly. Its do-able, but not worth it IMO.

A Stevens 200 in .270 lists for about $333.00 at SIR.

A Savage 111 FCXP3 in .270 WITH SCOPE AND DETACHABLE MAGAZINE lists for $435.

About $100 more. The frustration, aggrivation, and most of all the COST of trying to make a detachable magazine Stevens 200 is not worth it.

Buy the Savage 111 FCXP3 package. If you don't like the scope, flog it and get some money back.
