Can a stevens model 200 short action stock be interchanged with stock from a savage model 10? Also, can it be interchanged with a savage model 10 stock with a detachable magazine?

do you know for sure, or "i think it should work?"

check the bottom of the pistol grip on both stocks

if they both have pickle nosed indians on them, then yes, interchangable

if DM models are like model 700s, then no that wont work. feed rails are different? I dont touch savages so I cant tell you for sure :)

I guess I should mention that I dont currently have have a savage model 10 to compare the stevens (S.A) to and figure this out. (otherwise i wouldnt have posted this)

I'm tired of looking at the stevens grey color and was thinking of changing it to boyds stock in model 10 if it was possible. Then i'd have the option of a detachable magazine as well!

As far as I know, and by fooling around on the boyds webpage, they dont make a laminate stock for the stevens 200 yet. You think they would be selling their laminate stocks to stevens model 200 owners like crazy!

Am I the only stevens 200 owner who has thought of this?

If I can get my hands on a laminate stock for the 200, I'm gonna use the grey plastic strictly for rough bush hunting, and maybe as a chew toy for the dog.

wobbles99, thanks for the info.:)

The only problem is that a 110 is the long action. Im looking for the short action because I was told the savage model 10 is a short action.

My stevens 200 is a short action

The detachable mag system uses relief cuts on the action which is not usually present on a Steven's or a regular stock Savage. Not sure why anyone would want a detachable mag anyway JMHO.

You need a Savage short action stock, ignore the Steven's logo on the bolt, your rifle is a conventional short action Savage.

Am I the only stevens 200 owner who has thought of this? No, where have you been, lots of posts about stocks.

you have all been helpful. some more than others. J/k:p

I will make the order soon.

have a great easter, i will put up a picture when i get everything set up. It could be awhile so dont hold your breath!

The hinged floorplate system on the new fit stocks have a different action spacing than your Stevens short action. The short action spacing is 4.275" and on the new fit stocks the spacing is 4.395. If you get another rifle and it has the new fit stock with a H designation [hinged floorplate], it will not fit on your Steven's. The long actions will interchange though, same spacing.

I am not too familiar with either detachable mag system so I can't advise on how to go about adapting for switchablilty. I would guess the older detachable mag system could easily be made to work with your Steven's by possilby glueing in the mag guide box or modifing it.

Cheers
