Stevens Model 311

Happy New Year!! I just bought a Stevens Model 311 sxs 12 ga. It has no ser. no. There is a B in a circle and a K 1 stamped. Can anyone expound a bit about this?? Thanks in advance.

IIRC, serial numbers were not required on US made guns until 1968.
