Picked this up today, I think it will be a fun little shooter. Refinishing was well done, scope clear and reticle intact and in proper orientation, windage and elevation work as they should. I think the bore is a little weak but I will give it a good clean and see if there is more there. Extractor is working great, trigger is crisp and firing pin leaves a nice punch mark. I do not believe the scope has been refinished, as far as I can tell. This will be my first one of these, could quite easily lead to more, lol!

Interesting! That is an early scope setup. If the bore is beyond acceptable shooting standards, it would make sense to reline it.
Here is mine. It is a late one, probably from the early '30s.

I need to find a baseline for the bore. I haven't really dealt with anything of this vintage before. Curious, what would getting it relined cost?

Clean the bore and test it with good ammunition. I'd suggest standard velocity.

Probably have to make the missing screw, or adapt one. Just have to figure out the thread diameter and pitch.

Lining a .22 shouldn't be too expensive. The liner itself is under $100.
Here is a .303 Lee Enfield barrel being lined to .22. Doing a .22 is easier - doesn't require the chamber filling piece.

Very nice, congrats!
Have a few Steven's, but not the Mod 44.
Like tiriaq suggested, I'd shoot it a few times with some good ammo.
(Look for some SK standard)
Might be pleasantly ! (y)
Lot of my 22's have worn out rifling and are still tack drivers.

Hey man , from the pics it looks that it's a nice finish.

He's gonna be a good shooter , no one would refin like that
and not reline if it were needed.
