I have a pretty run-of-the-mill Stevens / Savage 820b with 28" barrel.
I'm trying to pull the magazine plug out of it so I can load all 5 shots into the magazine for some pop bottle hunting.
I've taken the screw out of the magazine plug... but now what do I do? The Lug on the barrel pins it against the magazine housing. and the magazine wont come off unless the plug is off, as far as I can tell.
Does the mag unscrew from the receiver like some of the older models do? It isn't fluted, but it does have small ridges. It doesn't seem to turn when I try it, but I didn't try very hard for fear of breaking something.
Every picture I've seen that shows a Stevens pump, no matter the age, all seem to have the same style of magazine plug and lug on the barrel.
