Bullpups tend to have very mushy triggers. Add the fact that is it mil orientated and crappy triggers is not hard to understand.

I'd expect that if I dropped 5 grand for a rifle it would have a decent trigger. This 50 would hopefully be considered a percision rifle not a "battle rifle" even thought it could be used "in battle".

5K for any precision big bore rifle is entry level now a days, I own a Steyr and find it to be pretty damm decent. The rifle itself is very well constructed and the barrel itself seems to be where most of the money went into the build of this rifle. For the money its a pretty good out of the box rifle. And if you were to compare apples to apples I'm sure the results would be close. It's kinda insulting for you to run your mouth about something other people own.... You get what you pay for and for me the steyr is worth every penny...
BTW I find the trigger to be decent once get used to the travel you can bring it in close and touch it off quick and smooth

I'm not trying to insult anyone and I'm sorry you took it that way. I said the Styer "I" shot had a crappy trigger. Hopefully yours is better than the one I shot. I think they are a cool gun -but the one "I" shot had a bad trigger. I have shot many 50's and I was just saying that have never shot a worse trigger on any gun. I have never shot "Your " gun so I didn't include it in my evaluation. Please don't take it personally because it wasn't personal. I'm just relating my experience. It sounds like you have a good experience with your rifle and I'm happy for you.

Yeah unfortunately I had some "family emergency type stuff" come up, and I'm guna be forced to sell my setup.. Its actually for sale now,(so some lucky guy is guna get a deal) it will be a sad day when i have to watch it leave my house.. Oh well it was fun while it lasted, and I'm sure it wont be my last 50....
Purchasing and owning a .50 bmg is not beyond most people's means.It can simply mean selling a second vehicle or abstaining from having another child.If you re-load and are thrifty ammo can be constructed for around 4.00 per shot.I own a Steyr HS .50 with a friend,we halve all costs.I think Alberta Tactical is the place to go for your first purchase as the Steyr is not cheap and it does have its limitations.

I have shot quite a number of HS50s and found the triggers to be wanting , to be polite. A match quality trigger they are not.
The unfortunate part is that they are not upgradeable either.
Most of the custom built 50s you have the option of what type of trigger you desire, and they are still in the same price range for the most part as the Steyr.
I should add that we really like our HS50 and the trigger is usable.We bought ours slightly used with a Nightforce 18-42 ,a case,75 rounds ammo and other acc.for a very resonable price.Setting up to re-load and buying more brass,powder and bullets put us a little over 8000.00.After all that expense we are pretty much running a `can I shoot it'

I just a visit from my new Surefire rep who is also the rep for Steyr (In the NW USA) and he saw our Steyr 50 on the shelf. He was quite suprised at our retail price as he advised with the current exchange on currency that it was more money in the USA. Nice for once to be a little lower than our US buddies. Phil.
Armorman- reloading for fun stuff (apti, ap, spotter, ball) is not bad about 45cents a round.(reloaded). I get 750 bullets for 75$ (my friend bought 30,000 bullets and he lets me buy them from him) and surplus powder for 3.25 a pound [5010] (last time I got it over a year ago-I bought allot) The match stuff is probably in the 3.50 dollars range. I just got the 408 cheytac and it is way more expensive to shoot than a 50. I just bought cases for it and the cases were 275.$ for 100.OUCH.please don't tell my wife

For you guys with HS50s we now offer a replacement gill style muzzle brake to replace the factory 1. It is NOT nearly as abusive to the shooter, can be shot when prone and does not kick up crap or debris all over you and is 15% MORE efficient and the real bonus is that it is made of 17-4 stainless steel so will NEVER wear out like the aluminum 1s that Steyr supplies.
