Steyr AUG Z A3 223rem Civilian Version!

Forget to mention stupid RCMP now trying even to put the Tavor
and FS2000 on restricted list just like the AR
and we are hoping that they can take AUG off the prohibed list ??@@

Is this an actual concern? I don't want to start a speculation disaster, but if there is a real threat to them becoming prohib/restricted then I get the sense I should buy one before the red tape.

Guys. To be more realistic. We are trying hard to fight those stupid RCMP by not even add more
on the prohibited list. Trying to get some name off the list sounds not to be realistic and impossible to me @@

The RCMP can't just add a type or brand of firearm to the prohib list. Only an Order In Council can do that.

If a firearm is a variant of a prohib, or is full auto or is capable of being modified to go full auto then it will be prohib.

The RCMP issue the FRT for the Tavor and the FS2000 classifying them as they already are. If they were going to prohib them, that was when they would have done it.

The Liberals and the NDP, if they get in power, might make them prohib by OIC, but that won't be the mounties doing it.

With the CPC in, there is no better time to push for changes to the prohib list as a whole.

What is more dismal the paper prohib list is the "we're doomed so we might not even try" mindset of some gun owners. Paper can change. It is much harder to change a thought.

The FS 2000 is not on any restricted list. It is classified as restricted due to barrel length. Also, the RCMP cannot add things to the Restricted/Prohibited list, they can only determine where a firearm falls within the current regulatory regime.

Please, do yourself and all of us a favour and read up on the Firearms Act, Criminal Code and the basic workings of Canadian Law.

The RCMP doesn't have the ability to reclassify BUT they do have the ability to lobby and are doing so now. There have been press releases from them complaining about the TAR-21's status in the last month. I'm not sure how a PARAMILITARY organization has the right to involve themselves in political lobbying. The Queen's Regulations and Orders make this an offence for the Canadian Forces. It is time to shut them down for good.

I didn't want this thread to go Political really...

But this is a very good point, if I couldn't say ***k about anything publicly when in the CF I think the same thing should be applied to the Chiefs of Police or at least they should have a democratic point of view aloud to represent what they say publicly or lobby for. Most beat cops I know don't really agree with their Chiefs at all for most part...many of them are out of touch what goes on at the ground level.

The RCMP have found a very nice way to effectively prohibit new firearms... an indefinite classification / review period
No sorry, we haven't got around to testing that rifle yet so you can't buy it or import it
It's not prohibited, but we haven't released an FRT number yet so you just have to wait until we get around to feeling like it
Makes me wonder how much dust is on that nice little stash of rifles in the RCMP firearms lab vault
I'm sure the dust will be cleared off them real fast when the Liberals get back in power
The new Justice Minister and Minister of Public Safety will receive RCMP reccomendations by the ton to further prohibit more legally owned & imported firearms
