Steyr AUG

$2200 in 1991

I remember them being up there, quite expensive at the time. The 80s without doubt were some of the the better years for gun owners/collectors. This period now seems reminiscent to the 50s with thier cars. That same AUG today is worth 1000.00

A lot of them (in BC anyway) were confiscated. They were initially supposed to be prohib without grandfathering, the firearms guys came out to stores and went through the ledgers making lists of people who bought them, and then went out to harass them. After an appeal, they were made 12.4, but by then a lot of the guns were gone - mostly underground, some were sold to "Mr Singh, from Surrey" (the west coast version of Mike from Canmore) I know at least one store called each buyer and warned them what was going to happen - James Kish, where are you now? By the time this went down, we'd all seen the confiscations of the SPAS, the Feathers, and all of the other guns, and compliance was starting to disappear along with peoples patience. It was down right nasty, people who had been friends with police officers were now openly hostile, the firearms guys were getting greeted with some really ugly stuff when they showed up at stores. Bad times indeed.
