Steyr-Hahn value has really gone up...

As mentioned Fiocchi makes 9mm Steyr ammo, should be available from site sponsors. Over the past few years I've bought some from various sponsors.

Here's a cool tip, get some Czech 7.65 tok ammo that comes on strippers. You can use the strippers for the 9mm Steyr:

I was looking into picking up one of the early automatic steyrs. But not that one. My ammo fund just shook in it's boots when I saw that ad.

Does anyone want to throw a little knowledge my way as to reasonable prices for the various models? 1900, 1907 Roth-Steyr, 1911/12. I'm keeping my eyes out for a shooter.

So what would one sensibly pay for a "junky old" Steyr now? I've seen the two Roth-Steyrs on Marstar for six hundred. Anyone seen any other offerings lately?

I'm not gonna lie, the turn of the century autos have a charming appeal to me.

You can make it up from .38 Super simply by trimming the semi-rim to a full rimless, bevelling the edge with a file.

so this got me thinking, i was certain that starline made a true rimless 38 super case, had a look and i was right.

even says in the description that it makes a good substitute for 9mm steyr. i also have been intrigued by these but a lack of brass always kept me away. between starline fiocchi and learning i an load it with those plentiful surplus stripper clips, might have to give them another look

I have 2 Steyr-Hahn M1912's. I purchased the second a few months ago for $200. When I purchased the first one I was told that super-comp brass would work. The only place I could find Starline 38 super-comp brass was CRAFM and the min order was 1000 pieces so that is what I bought. Unfortunately it still doesn't work properly. The base is still too wide and the extractor won't engage most of the time on either of my pistols. I need to make a jig to thin the bases down but I haven't gotten around to it yet. Cutting down brass is easy. Thinning bases is a pain in the arse.

Steyr-Hahn is nice and all, but it doesn't hold a candle to the awkward ### appeal of the voluptuous Roth - Steyr 1907.

Now that is a gun that should get you laid! "Hey baby, ever seen my Roth before, let me whip it out for you"

I have two Chileans - one original and the other has been chromed!

I have shot one - brass made up from 38 Super, 38 Super dies, 9mm bullets and 9mm Luger load data. Easy peasy.

.38 Super brass is easy to find; the IPSC guys pave the ranges with it.

Or, if you are not as cheap as I am, you can buy it in big bags relatively inexpensively.

I have about 500 here which are going to be converted fairly soon; have to keep my old one chugging.

I love it when guys say that the "1911" is the best pistol ever built. They are right, just talking about the wrong 1911! For sheer reliability, my Steyr has it over my Colt, hands down.

BTW, 1907 Roth-Steyr and the 1911 were designed by the same team. Sylvestr Krnka developed the gun and George Roth developed the rather high-intensity ammunition for it. Military loads for the 9mm Steyr put out up to 420 FPE. Compare that to 220 for the .38 Special in the target loads, or to 360 for the 9mm Parabellum in its military version.

That's an unusual model, different trigger, front and rear sights, and looks like it is set up for a shoulder stock.

This is the more common model, I think I paid 600 for it about 10 yrs ago.

I had a 'Train Wreck' with mine, no idea what caused it. But it destroyed the slide and bbl. Should really post the pic's and the story...but I disgress.
Picked up another on the EE that is only cosmetically worn for 325$ shipped
It's like all the WW1 455's...700-800 $ ? Yeah...right....I've slightly cosmetically worn 2nd model S & W that I picked up on the EE for 295 $ shipped.
I really wonder about the 'perfect' examples; wouldn't pick one up anyhow because I shoot mine.
A gun that is 'too valuable to shoot' is not going to come to my house. I don't have the money to waste and the willpower to not shoot it.

Edit; when we see the entertaining 5 K $ nonsense we should just fill his in-box with 350 $ offers, lol.
For shame...the shyster. Some people live by different standards, do they not? So many good people out there...then there are homo sapiens like that. I can't even call such an individual a person
